Turning it on
App lock asks for the check you unlock your device with before Venova shows anything: Touch ID or your Mac's login password in the desktop app for Mac, and your fingerprint, face or screen lock in the Android app. It is not available on Windows, Linux or the web.
Go to Settings → Security & privacy → App lock, or turn it on in the "Make it yours" step when you set Venova up. It asks once to make sure it works.
When it asks
Every time Venova opens.
When you come back after Venova has been away for the time you choose under "Ask again after": at once, 1, 5 or 15 minutes. On a Mac, away means the window was minimized or hidden, and switching to another app does not count. On Android, away means the app was in the background.
On a Mac, with the lock on, a minimized Venova shows only its icon in the Dock and Mission Control.
After 15 minutes without use, whatever you chose. Venova frosts the page and hides your amounts. The next time you touch the screen, move the mouse, click or press a key, it asks for the check.
Turning it off
Turning the lock off, or making it wait longer, asks for the check first.
Privacy
The check happens on your device. Venova is told only whether it passed, never your fingerprint, your face or your password, and the setting stays on your device.
On Android, your balances never show in the recent apps screen, whether or not app lock is on.
App lock locks the app. It is separate from encryption, which the Security & Privacy page explains.
